Lynn Lynch
Sailing Director, New York Yacht Club

Lynn is the Sailing Director for New York Yacht Club and focuses on the management of regattas as well as oversight of the club-owned assets (both sail and power) and the docks. Before settling in at NYYC in 2017, she was the Race Director at St. Francis Yacht Club and the On the Water Director at Chicago Yacht Club. Early in her career, before switching focus to race and waterfront management in 2008, she was a sailing program manager and instructor in both Chicago and Newport Beach. Lynn has a 100-ton USCG License and holds several US Sailing certifications including National Race Officer, Powerboat MIT and Level One IT.

Joan Porter
America 3 Team, 1995

Joan Porter sailed professionally for 15 years. In 1995, Porter sailed with top female athletes from across the country on the America 3 team aboard Mighty Mary. She sailed around the world as a watch helmsman in the 1997-1998 Whitbread aboard EF Education. In the 2000 America’s Cup she sailed with the NYYC Young America team in New Zealand. Other accomplishments include 2003 ISAF World Champion in the Yngling class. Joan currently sails with the Storm Trysail women’s team race group, IC37 Members Only team and a Bullseye with her daughter Kate.

Linda Lindquist-Bishop

Linda Lindquist-Bishop is president of Courageous Thinking Inc. She facilitates strategic clarity and alignment for companies and individuals in times of transition as the foundation for success in strategic planning, exit planning for founder-owner businesses and leadership development.

Linda has blazed trails in the all-male world of offshore yacht racing, sailing on over 100 teams in the past 28 years. Winning two world championships in 2004 and 2009, she thrives in high-risk, stretch-goal team environments. Making history as a member of America3, the first and only all-women’s team to compete in the America’s Cup, she simultaneously competed as a team member and spearheaded their successful sponsorship program.

Prior to America3, Linda drove the marketing and branding for the world’s largest marine paint company, creating new product lines in the off-shore sport fishing, bass and high performance sailing markets. As Publisher of Yachting Magazine (Times Mirror), she leveraged her grand-prix sports success and 15-years of brand building in the luxury goods market, to create an array of non-endemic business opportunities.

Combining her athletic and business expertise, Linda creates dynamic speaking and teaching experiences for corporate, non-profit, government, military and faith-based audiences. Linda continues to serve on local and national boards in her areas of passion – specifically economic develop- ment, sailing, aviation, US Air Force, women in sports and Impact 100 – a women’s philanthropy movement.

Certified as a NAVIX Exit Planning Consultant she guides founder owner businesses through the NAVIX Exit Planning Process to achieve successful exits while building value and growth in the short term.

A passionate mentor and advocate of inspiring and developing women leaders, Linda is also co-founder and executive director of the Rising Tide Leadership Institute (RTLI). RTLI utilizes the high-tech, high-performance platforms of sailing, aviation and motor sports to inspire and equip women leaders.

Linda was awarded Glamour magazine’s ‘Women of the Year’ in 1995, International Women in Boating ‘Woman of the Year in 1995, and Lifetime Television’s list of ‘100 Women of the Century’ in 1997.

Continuing to compete successfully in sailing at the international level Linda and her husband, Air Force Major General (ret) Brian T. Bishop, live in Leland MI & Newport RI with their golden retriever Sky.

Kim Hapgood
Program Director, Sail Newport

Kim is a lifetime sailor starting out in Chicago, IL,  on Lake Michigan (Sunfish), with time on a reservoir outside London, England at St. Mary’s Sailing Club (I420s & Kestrels), before moving onto the Charles River (Larks and Techs) in Boston, MA.  She also sailed in the the Big Apple, NYC, sailing on the Hudson and Long Island Sound before passing through Jensen Beach, FL and the US Sailing Center Martin County.

She is currently a resident in Newport, RI where she has been the Program Director at Sail Newport for 25 years. She has sailed, cruised and raced around the country / world on everything from I420s to J/24s to Swedish Match 40s, a Dubois 60 and more. Her favorite discipline is match racing. Also, she has been an IT and MIT for US Sailing since 1991 and has been actively involved with the National Faculty and Training Committees for many years.

In her spare time she has been a part-time seasonal harbormaster for the City of Newport.  Also, she fosters kittens for the local animal shelter (something her own cats do not fully appreciate or understand).

Dr. Deborah Harris, DVM
Owner and sole practitioner at Kitty Corner Cat Clinic in Newport, RI.

“It’s always good to look back at the shore!” – Dr. Deb Harris

Dr. Deb Harris is a day-sailor and former coastal cruiser and (sometimes) boat-camper. She is a local sailor and member of the Newport Yacht Club sailing on her Ensign, competing with the local fleet. Dr. Deb has restored a few classic-plastic boats, and owns a couple of antique, full keeled, Allberg-designed classics. With experience racing as a crew member on various boats including a Far 40 for many years, she really enjoys a wide variety of vessels, including sail and power boats, work boats, crew shells and kayaks.

Past-president of Sail Newport Board of Directors and chair of Sail Newport’s Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Committee.
