Boating enthusiasts are encouraged to participate in Wear Your Life Jacket at Work Day tomorrow as part of the Safe Boating Campaign, the National Safe Boating Council’s awareness effort that stresses the importance of wearing a PFD and other safety measures.
“No matter your age, this is a great opportunity to share with others your love for boating,” Yvonne Pentz, communications director for the National Safe Boating Council, said in a statement.
Wear Your Life Jacket at Work Day is a kickoff to Safe Boating Week, which runs May 20-26.
Drowning was the reported cause of death in four out of five boating fatalities in 2021, and 83% of those who drowned were not wearing life jackets. The National Safe Boating Council asks boaters and anglers to pledge to wearing a PFD and encourage others to do the same.
